Daniel Fast – Day 4
Yesterday the verse of Mathew 6:33 really inspired me. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these things shall be added to you.” (NKJV)
Last night was the the first cell/home-group meeting of the year and when my husband got home at about 5:45, all I wanted to do was put my feet up and plan how I was going to cope with the craziness that is coming over the next few days. It’s good craziness, but still craziness. Cell was at 6:30…
The Holy spirit kept reminding me of this verse and I just couldn’t ignore it. So I dragged my sore feet into a pair of shoes, dusted off the flour and icing sugar from my shirt and grabbed a jersey and headed off. I wish that seeking God first was easy, but alas, my body and earthly desires are strong and my spirit has to fight against them often.
Cell is always a special time of meeting on a deeper level with members of my spiritual family and reconnecting last night was no different. I left still tired and sore, but spiritually lighter and motivated to persevere. So I am committing to do my utmost to seek Him first and foremost. I trust that He will carry me through and preserve me.
Yesterday’s meals were pretty straight forward with salad and porridge and lots of fruit. We have dinner at cell and this was a very yummy lentil meal with carrots and onions and some other things. I’ve never been a fan of lentils, but I actually enjoyed them last night.
Today I went to the orientation for my Patisserie Diploma. The second year students had laid out a veritable feast of tea-time treats and I had to keep myself well away from the table. I already know that we will be doing muffins and scones next week Thursday and will inevitably have tasters to bring home…I’m just trying to work out who I can give mine to and reminding myself not to lick my fingers!
