Weekend baking
Just a quick update on the weekend. It was a bit of a cheat Pilsbury weekend, but where’s the fun if you can’t cheat every now and then.
It started off with a late Saturday brunch of Pilsbury crumpets (just add water), scrambled egg, bacon and fresh orange juice. And later I baked the Pilsbury chocolate cake, iced with Pilsbury icing.
I recently bought two nifty silicone moulds from Clicks. One in the shape of a heart and one a bunny rabbit. Both are actually made up of lovely serving sized pieces which you just fit together to form the shape. You can ice/decorate them individually or stick them together first.
I took the heart shaped one to my in-laws on Saturday. I added some gold sprinkles for fun:
The bunny rabbit one is for me to eat as I feel the chocolate cake desire hit (which it does fairly regularly). The beauty is, I’ll just ice each piece as I eat it. Yummy!
The only problem that I had with this is that the moulds are a little shallow, so the cake isn’t flat. Not reall a problem with a fluffy bunny rabbit, but it depends on how fancy you want to get wit the icing.
Other than the breakfast, cakes and another couple of batches of pillow biscuits, my kitchen was fairly untouched this weekend. Dinner with the in-laws on Saturday, lunch at Blues on Sunday and all in all a relaxed weekend.
If anyone looks down on you because you cheat with your cooking or baking, tell them to stick it. The world is full of little things to make our lives easier and every now and then we need to take a short cut to fit the rest of our lives in.
Happy (cheat) Baking!!:)
